As anyone who watched the Canucks-Detroit game last night can tell you, Mr. Bertuzzi and the top lineup (Bertuzzi, Ohlund, Naslund) are back in good form. The Canucks beat the Western Conference leading team, the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 in an impressive rally back from three consecutive defeats (at the hands of the Colorado Avalanche, and Calgary Flames). However, the victory can't just be attributed to Bertuzzi - the entire team contributed. Nolan Baumgartner received "second most valuable player of the game" by some sports shows, but that honour could have easily gone to Dan Cloutier. Mr. Cloutier played his first post-concussion game and made a series of stunning saves to keep the Canucks in the game with their solid lead. What a way for Vancouver to disappoint their naysayers and rally back from a 3 game losing streak.
Noticeably, the Bertuzzi/Chelios rivalry was absent in this game as well, along with any significant plays by the Detroit forward. Perhaps having your team almost single-handedly defeated by your rival has something to do with it...
